Do I have to pick just one? I love them all! Okay, my favorite, the one I re-read at least every three years, is J.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. It has everything! Wizards, romance, war, a cause, right from wrong, impossible situations that turn out good, sadness, courage, adventure, strange creatures, beautiful horses and fun!
What is your favorite color?
Really? Again I have to pick just one? All right, hmmm, blue.
What is your latest project about?
I foolishly, or bravely, which ever you think fits, signed up for NaNoWriMo. I did this to get the first story I ever wanted to write out of my head. It is a daunting task because it is a historical romance on the Viking history. These people have always fascinated me. It is an involved plot line, and I have to continually keep checking my facts. Plus I’m trying to write it in 30 days.
I’m also in edit mode on Jake’s Elvis J Has Left the Barn. This is a collection of stories about the most wonderful friend of my life, a Missouri Fox Trotter horse who is quite the character. It is a fun, light hearted read and should be in print by January 2013.
If you could interview one of your characters, who would it be and what are the top three questions you would ask?
Oh, I’m laughing! I’d love to interview my horse, Elvis. I’ve always wondered through the years what is going through that horse’s mind. I would ask him the following:
- Why must you crow hop every spring?
- Why is it you want to run when you want to run, but act like an old nag when I want you to run?
- Why, oh why must you be so dang stubborn?
I would say bake and fry are the staples at my house.
What is the last good joke you heard?
An old man and woman were enjoying the afternoon in their rocking chairs on the porch. Suddenly the woman turned to her husband. “Hey, I’m hungry for bacon, eggs and toast. Do you mind getting me some? My bunions are acting up.” The old man shuffled off into the house. You hear pots and pans rumbling around and soon he comes out, hands her a spoon and a chocolate sundae with nuts. She looks at it for a moment and then says, “You forgot the cherry.”
What do you read when you’re not writing? How often do you really get to read?
I love Reader’s Digest, so that’s monthly. I try to get in a good book once a week. I love reading blogs and anything else I can get my hands on. I speed read so I can take a lot in quickly.
Twilight or Dracula?
Twilight any time. I don’t like horror. I have too vivid of an imagination.
Do you still remember the original color of your hair?
Yup! It’s still ash blond, just has white highlights now!
Where can you be found on the internet?
