About the Books
Dying To Live from Amazon.com
A Novelette (Short Story)
"Admit it. You think about it, fantasize about it, live through it in your
head. But what would you do if zombies became a reality? If you actually
were to see the dead walk, attack and kill people you know - who then
rise right in front of your eyes? What would you do when the undead
don't follow the script you've played out - over and over - in your own
mind?
Find out what happens to a woman in central Illinois when her life is turned upside down. Zombies become real and so does the danger. Her family means the most to her, but can she keep them alive? Can she keep herself alive?
In this short story that begins the full-length series, you are a big part
of it. The main character "speaks" to you often and you're invited into
her thoughts - which can be quite humorous at times. She's not perfect
and she knows it."
She strong and she's a fighter...but she doesn't know it."
Fighting To Live from Amazon.com
"This second book in the Zombie Overload series starts right where book one ended.
Canada and her family continue on in their attempt to reach her sister's home in Missouri. The zombie count increases and so does the danger. Canada experiences so much that she hadn't planned or fantasized about back when it was all make-believe.
Who will survive...and who will not? Will they make it to her sister's, or will circumstances prevent the reunion and safety the family hope to find there?
Become a part of Canada's group. Fight with her, survive with her, and share in her pain and frustration."
Dying To Live opens with a lot of blood and gore, and I have to admit that it turned my stomach. I wasn't sure if I'd make it through the first chapter and almost put the book aside. I'm glad I didn't. If I had, I'd never have met our heroine Canada. Let me tell you, this chick rocks!
What's the plan to stay alive? Canada, her hubby, and her two sons load up their minivan and hit the road for her sister's house. It's on a hill (zombies can't climb, can they?) and big enough for her whole family to get together. But it's a long way to her sister's house and there's are a lot of zombies between them and safety, that is if the zombies haven't already taken the place over.
Fighting To Live picks up right where the story left off and keeps it going, following Canada and the rest of Team I Wanna Live (that's what I named them in my head as I read) as they continue their journey to get to her sister's home. Will they make it there alive? And if they do, what will they find?
It was really nice to read about a female lead character who doesn't just stand behind everyone whimpering and crying. Canada jumps into action from the beginning when she and her hubby start boarding up the windows and never lets up. She thinks quickly on her feet and acts on her ideas. She's sassy, sometimes abrasive, and speaks her mind. I loved her Did I just say that out loud? moments and the conversations she had with herself and the reader. She made me laugh out loud many times.
The situations that the main characters encounter along the way are plausible and I felt like my family could easily end up going through the same things if (or when) zombies attack. As I read I kept thinking, Wow, that could really happen to us. I'd probably say something like that. My son would do say that too. I believe anyone who like a good action packed story with strong characters put into believable situations with a little sass and brass thrown into their zombie novel will really enjoy these books.
